Covid-19 has brought such destruction. Our health is compromised, Lifestyles are disparaged and our economies are at the verge of collapsing (at least for some countries).
With different waves hitting the continents at different time periods, people across the world have been grappling with many adversities. I suppose mental wellbeing has become a core concern for many of us. “How do we survive this in one piece!” we think.
Though it is very unclear how Covid-19 ever came into existence, within a very short period of time, the world has come forth with Vaccines. Again, there is no assurance that any of these vaccines are able to actually combat and eventually wipe out this mysterious virus off our planet completely.
Since of late I have been observing some developments in our society and I wonder if it’s just here where I live, or if this is evident in across communities throughout the world.
Vaccines and Vaccination programs have become the most protruding topic amongst social circles. “Have you got the vaccine?”, “Which vaccine did you get?”, “Oh, why on earth did you get Vaccine {X}, you should have got yourself vaccine {Y}”, “Since you are not vaccinated best if we don’t meet up”. Well the last phrase is not so direct. But, I have observed that a great divide has being created in our societies and I would like to call it the “Vaccination Divide”. It is ridiculous! With or without one’s knowledge the words which utter from their lips discriminating those who are not vaccinated and depriving them of certain standard privileges is unspeakable.
Yes, we have a crisis going on with this pestilence upon us. And yes, it would be marvelous if this plague just magically disappeared, just as it magically appeared. But vaccines cannot be enforced upon people who wish not to take any risks of a vaccine which they have no clue of; vaccines which have not had enough time on earth with their existence and have not been evaluated within adequate time periods and backed by consistent evidence. It’s causes and affects are yet being documented as I type these lines. It’s too short a time to tell anything about these vaccines.
I do not know where this is heading. But I can sense a huge devastation approaching us. One which may be larger than the actual problem; which we are trying to resolve right now, which happens to be a pandemic.
